Meet Blomst og Krokodille

Crochet Toys

Stavanger, Norway

This is Blomst og Krokodille

Many years ago, when, as a little girl, I was asked that typical childhood question ”And, what are you gonna be when you grow up?” I answered ”I don’t know… I just want to be happy”. Fast forward about 30 years and at the beginning of 2016, just as I finished making my first toy, a small teddy bear, I knew instantly this is the thing that fulfils me, and this is what I wanna do.
Now, I do have to admit, wanting to find my place under the sun in handmade world still sounds like mission impossible to me. Especially in today’s world where everything is happening so fast, where someone’s value is measured in the number of ”likes”, and where we are flooded with cheap mass-produced plastic. How can one stay at home mom compete with that?
Yet, I feel in my heart that is what I am here for and I hope, together with other people who feel the same, we can start making change and bring back the spirit of handmade items as a nice way of showing our love and care, both for people and for our planet. Because, when I witness that special connection some kids make with a certain toy, it just warms my heart and it makes everything worthwhile.
